Cosmopolitan Legends – MC Legends 2002
– 2003 In April it became apparent there was a need to create an on-going outlet for the MC Legends. This triggered an in-depth search triggered (via a myriad of Engines e.g. Google, Ask Jeeves, Temo, Netscape) and of course the IBC. The goal was to find a participative athletic activity for the MC Legends to devote their time (mental if not physical) over the coming months. It was not an easy task because the Legends’ are currently spread across two continents and in dozens of cities. However with the spiritual guidance and mental encouragement from “The MAN” a strong case was made for establishing the Legends in an active league. At this late date we were able to persuade the governing body of the IBC to place the Legends in the league this year. The strength of MCL’s position was that the team members represent very diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. MCL’s petition noted that team members would represent England, Germany, Italy, Vietnam, Cuba, Latin America, China, India, Russia, and the USA; the US is broken into four areas including New Hampshire (Captain Ed Zadravec). The lengthy document presented to the IBC was crafted by Councilor Reinhard and finalized by the distinguished and crafty legal mind of Dr. Innamorati, Esq. One major hurdle that had to be overcome deserves mention; it was the Cuban background of one of the Legends. The US Representative was very apprehensive and standoffish about admitting MCL, all the stops had to be pulled out to assure US approval if we were to become an entry for the 2002-2003 season. After much written correspondence and long distance phone calls we assured the IBC that our Cuban team member has agreed not to marry a Cuban and, more specifically, she would not remarry her ex-Cuban husband. This mollified the Governing Body of the IBC and they were duly impressed ruling in favor of admitting the Legends. The IBC (International Bowling Congress) assigned the Legends to the Hale and Hardy Division of the ad hoc floating Conference a unit of the GFBL* . The GFBL’s rules are ideal for the Legends’ international reach as they take into account the diversity of our team and locations. To wit:

Roster follows:
Team Members
Ms. Flagel and Ms. Rodriguez are eligible and their names were submitted to the league. However, they have not been sighted recently so they are not on the “sure to be there” roster. Aka: also known as / often referred to in match commentaries with the person’s aka. The first Match is scheduled for June 17, 2002 in Galway on the western coast of Ireland. Mister Leo, Captain of the Ireland crew, will lead the Legends into their first battle. We are fortunate that Scott Iacono has agreed to participate, along with his wife. Urike Weinberger, Mr. Tennis and the “Conciliator” will be coming from Germany for the first Match of the season. Regional Captains will be advised ahead of time to report the results of their matches. Reports are to be sent to the Legends Headquarters for compilation into Division, Regional and World Standings. Mr. Weinberger is in the final stages of an eight year marathon to finish his Thesis and cannot take time away from this monumental effort. (Of course, he’ll be staying home with Paul so its questionable how much time he’ll get to spend on the thesis, but again -- what’s new.) Elliott Schultz Baker -- Team Statistician
